The board of the future will look very different from the board of today.
There’s a growing realization that diversity of views around the boardroom table leads to more invigorating discussions and as a result, smarter decisions and better performance.
And the only way of eliciting that diversity of views is by recruiting directors from the widest possible range of backgrounds relevant to the company’s business whether measured by age, race, sexual orientation, geographical origins, cultural background, or business experience.
We need those diverse minds to rethink attitudes and strategies that were once considered the norm but no longer serve the best interests of either the company or society.
Discover further perspectives on diversity in the boardroom from this book reading, excerpted from Chapter 6, Who Should Be at the Future Boardroom Table?, within Helle Bank Jorgensen’s new book The Future Boardroom – How to Transform in Turbulent Times.
