Lee Kindberg

Former Head of Environment & Sustainability, North America, Maersk

Dr. Lee Kindberg retired in March 2024 as Head of Environment and Sustainability for A.P. Moller-Maersk (Maersk) in North America. She was with Maersk for 19 years, managing environmental policies and compliance, customer and stakeholder partnerships on sustainability and decarbonization, and strategic initiatives. She joined Starcrest Consulting Group in April 2024, where she is involved in maritime environmental and decarbonization projects for Port Authorities and the International Maritime Organization. She served on the Marine Board of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine for six years, and now serves on the National Academies’ new Climate Crossroads Advisory Committee. She also served on the US Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean Air Act Advisory Committee and Mobile Source Technical Review Subcommittee and co-chaired the EPA Ports Workgroup in 2014-2016. She has been active for 18 years in Clean Cargo and the Smart Freight Centre, global programs dedicated to assessing and improving the environmental impact of shipping. She served as a Board member of the Pacific Merchant Shipping Association and Chaired the External Advisory Board on Marine Biofuels for the US National Laboratories. She has represented Maersk for over two years in the effort to establish the Los Angeles- Shanghai Green Shipping Corridor.
