We are delighted that our alumnus Sibylle Barden, recently graduated from Competent Boards’ Global Sustainability & ESG Designation (GCB.D) and Certification, will be working with us to grow our presence in Germany and German-speaking Austria and Switzerland.
Sibylle is a seasoned board member and a trusted advisor to non-profit organizations, authoring three published books. As a strong supporter of the World Economic Forum’s Great Reset, Sibylle pioneered the creation of the internationally renowned English-German podcast platform, “Der Große Neustart” (The Great Reset). This platform reaches audiences in 96 countries, effectively communicating the significant advantages of a sustainable economic system that prioritizes the well-being of people and the planet.
‘I found the Competent Boards program to be very eye-opening, and an outstanding program all around – a strong cohort of leaders with an extraordinary lineup of faculty that included global board chairs, executives and advisers with whom we could interact. Corporate leaders in Germany, and throughout the EU for that matter, can benefit immensely from gaining this valuable global lens on sustainability and ESG issues. The programs cover all matters critical to boards serving as the front-lines of corporate governance, reflecting that risks and opportunities are complex and connected (e.g. geopolitics, technology, and sustainability). It has already made me a stronger board director.’
Sibylle serves as a member of the Board of Trustees at the Cologne Forum for International Relations and Security Policies. Additionally, she contributes her expertise as a Board of Advisors member for the US-based Jet Perfect Foundation.
Sibylle holds an MBA from the OU Business School in London, and a diploma in journalism from the esteemed Axel Springer Academy in Berlin.
In her new role with Competent Boards, Sibylle will help develop long-term strategies, identify and nurture strategic partnerships, and generally serve as an ambassador on the ground to enhance board competency in the face of unprecedented change and business transformation.
“We are deeply grateful for Sibylle’s engagement and are thrilled to benefit from her insights in the region,” said Helle Bank Jorgensen, founder and CEO of Competent Boards. “While we are proud to have trained over 1,000 current and future board members, much more needs to be done to make a significant impact. The world urgently needs more stewards of the future.”
